A poltergeist, which is German for noisy spirit, is a type of ghost, which is
particularly bothersome, regularly disrupting the lives of the people present in the building it haunts. Typical examples
of poltergeist behavior include moving objects, and sometimes people around; and creating noises such As thumping or rapping
sounds. At times, some forms of communication have been established with poltergeists with the spirit using raps to respond
to questions. Poltergeist phenomena usually centre on a specific person. If that person moves away from the place of haunting,
the disruptive phenomena usually stop. Often it has been noted that the person at the centre of poltergeist phenomena is an
adolescent girl and it has been speculated that the frequent emotional disturbance associated with the period of early adolescence
in some way manifests itself as the poltergeist. Poltergeist phenomena usually persist for a year or two and then disappear
of their own accord.
